"Boss Babe" Shomara Garcia @bossbae.___ WE HONOR YOU as one of our 2022 "Top 7 Most Influential Boss Babes of South Florida” on Saturday, March 5th from 12pm - 3pm. RSVP at www.bossbabesofsouthflorida.com.
ABOUT "BOSS BABE" SHOMARA GARCIA
As a little girl growing up in Connecticut I was always told who I was and who I wasn’t based on the color of my: skin, hair texture, and the language I didn’t speak. Not being accepted for who I was and constantly reminded of who I wasn’t based on society’s standards, I became frustrated by the consistent ignorance and lack of knowledge of Blatinas (even till this day).
I grew up in "No-man's land." On Holidays, I ate Spanish rice, chitterlings, baked macaroni and cheese from my mom. On the other hand, I enjoyed Belizean potato salad, conch fritters, and sweet bun from my Belizean father while dancing to Beyonce or doing Merengue or attempting Salsa. I've spent countless years in confusion about how to identify myself. Society has a way of hinting on WHO I AM!
I attended an HBCU, graduated with my bachelor’s of science in elementary education. I’ve taught on the elementary level in urban cities for five years. I then decided my experiences had a bigger purpose and my purpose is to help bring light to an intense movement of uniqueness and originality of Blatinas/ Afro-Latinas everywhere which led me to starting Shop BLatina: sharing real stories, advice, and empowerment through apparel.
Aside from Shop BLatina, I have also found my way to birthing my company: Muñeca Private Care Recovery Services helping those on their cosmetic surgery journey. Amongst those businesses: I’m a licensed massage therapist, a social media strategist and content creator.
